camping food ideas?
im going camping this Saturday and im going for a week and im gonna have coolerss and stuff and im gonna have a firepit and a stove.
what are some good recipes,food ideas,and what foods should i bring?
Thanks
I was always in charge of the food and cooking so over the years I have learned a few things.
I'd take bagels instead of bread (they keep better)
Take potatoes, onions, garlic, green peppers etc.
these can be used for breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Take squeezable margarine, soy milk in boxes (keeps better)
Mix salt/pepper together & put in small container.
Liquid eggs are easier to keep too.
Get a small bag of REAL bacon bits, add to eggs.
Get a bottle of complete pancake mix you just add water to.
I got coffee in those foil packages, looks like a tea bag.
Brought powdered creamer and sugar packets.
Brought 2 or 3 SOS scour pads to clean the cookware, plates etc. Keep them in a zip baggy.
Took Jiffy pizza crust mix, pepperoni, and tomato paste and made pizzas on the fire using a flat rock to cook it on.
Brought tuna in packets, mayo & relish packets and had tuna salads.
Brought Pringles chips, packed in can & easy to transport.
Bring lots of Rice Crispy treats, they are foil packaged.
You really can find all you need in a regular grocery store, just think ease of use and transportability. Finally, I kept all the food in a large storage container. And if you can put the container in a vehicle at night. If you don't there will be all kinds of critters coming around trying to get at the food. Have fun!!

Since you have cooler. Pack your marinated chicken, pork, and beef (separately) in a zip lock bag and stick them in the Freezer. Do the same with Hotdogs.
I like my bbq sweet and a little spicy.
Here's my recipe:
Ketchup
Soy Sauce
Brown Sugar
Hot sauce
Black Pepper
A little Basil and Thyme

You cannot go wrong with hot dogs, BBQ chicken, burgers, and smores. These are the best camping foods.

Awesome chicken foil dinners
For each foil dinner:
1 boneless skinless chicken breast
1 potato, washed & sliced
sliced onion
3-4 fresh mushrooms, washed & sliced
6-8 stalks fresh asparagus, tough ends snapped off
salt, pepper, etc. as desired
Heavy duty aluminum foil
sharp paring knife
hot coals
Place the chicken breast on a large square of foil. Season chicken and add layers of sliced potato, mushrooms, onions and top with asparagus stalks. Wrap dinner 'butcher-style' and place chicken-side-down on hot coals, turning after about 20 minutes. After another 10 minutes or so, unwrap one dinner and slice chicken to test for doneness. If chicken is fully cooked - dig in!

Why not bring some camping classics. Like smores, marshmellows, and brownies. Also try bringing some bottled waters, juice, pepsi, 7up, sprite, cocacola, and bring some flavored water too. You could bring frozen pizzas, frozen ice creams, and frozen lolipops. Also bring desserts like brownies, chesse cake (kinds of cakes), and candys.

Corned Beef Stew
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 or 2 cans corned beef
* 4 large potatoes, diced
* 6 carrots, diced
* 1 large onion, diced
* salt and pepper, to taste
* Louisiana Hot Sauce, to taste
PREPARATION:
Put potatoes and carrots in a Dutch oven or other large pot with one quart of water. Boil until potatoes and carrots are almost tender enough to eat. Add onions and cook another ten minutes. Add corned beef last and cook for ten more minutes.
Salt and pepper to taste (I like to add Louisiana Hot Sauce to mine, not Tobasco). Serve hot with crackers.
