I would bring tons……of sancks. Make sure to bring a travel grill. Make sure you clean the grill before you put it away(youdontwantbears). Hotdogs, hamburgers, ribs. Bring a cooler to keep juice and soda cold and bring some bacon for breakfast, and cereal. For your husband bring big meats. And bring a warm dessert.

"Dinner in a Package"
Ground beef (or venison of course)
Potatoes
Onions
Salt, pepper, seasoning as you wish
Butter or margarine
Tear off two 12 inch sections of aluminum foil per person. For each dinner. use 2 sheets of foil, one on top of the other, and proceed as follows: Put a few pats of butter on the foil. Add thinly sliced (or diced) onion, top that with a hamburger patty made from the meat, thinly sliced potatoes, a bit more butter, seasonings.Close foil package and grill on grill or campfire for about 20 mins, turning about every 5 mins so it cooks evenly. Open and enjoy!!
Hints: Please use real butter. Better than margarine in many ways…Also, just for kicks, try mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, or whatever veggie you like! Experiment with soy sauce, Red Hot, jalapeno peppers….just use your imagination!! As for differences in opinion: either fold the foil packs a different way or remember where you put them on the fire or grill!! Don't be afraid to experiment with chicken strips too!!

For breakfast, you could make scrambled eggs, hash browns and pancakes. For lunch, baked potatoes with chili and all the fixings (cheddar cheese, bacon, chives, sour cream, salsa, onion, etc.) For dinner, Go fishing, catch some fish and make a lemon butter sauce to go over it. Serve it with some roasted vegetables. Happy cooking!

Dessert!
Campfire Eclairs
Equipment: 1" X 3' dowel rods, 2-3" lightly oiled on the cooking end
ingred:
1 can crescent rolls
pudding flavor of choice
frosting if desired
take a crescent roll dough piece, wrap around end of dowel, sealing dough over end of dowel and around sides about 21/2" down-thin and tight to rod-will puff thicker as it cooks.
Cook dough over coals-keeping end tilted up or end will burn-rotate slowly as you cook-will take a good 4-5 min if done properly-your forearms may get sore if you're out of practice!
when golden and cooked (not doughy) slide off end and fill with pudding and frost 1 side. Ridiculously delicious!!
Meal:
Bags of Gold
tomato soup concentrate
milk or water to desired consistency
crescent rolls
cubes of cheddar cheese
In large pot over campfire, heat soup and milk/water
wrap cheese cubes in sections of dough, -form into 'bags-twist top closed-may get two 'bags' per crescent roll if small cubes- drop in hot simmering soup-cook till puffy.
Meal:
Foil Wraps
Chunks of fresh veg, canned fruits (potato, onion, carrots, peppers, pineapple…), cheese(s) of choice, pre-cooked meat of choice- beef -ground, sliced or chunks, chicken, pepperoni, ham…(this is a good way to use up leftovers) season to choice-(seasoned salt, pepper, garlic, dash, steak sauce, spaghetti sauce…use your imagination!)
double up a piece of foil about 2' long, spray with pam, pile on your ingredients (leave room to close well) and fold your foil up the sides and fold /roll down tightly, then seal up ends well. place in coals or on top of small flames grill. Let cook around 20 min-voila! everyone has their dinner of choice.
Pie irons:
Equipment: pie irons- used for dessert or sandwiches
ingred:
bread, buttered on outside
filling:
canned fruit or pudding for dessert OR
lunchmeat any/all kinds
cheese any/all kinds
veg.-sliced very thin to cook in sandwich-
(onion, pepper rings, tomato…)
if desired-spaghetti sauce/cheese sauce-very thin layer inside of meat/cheese so bread doesn't get soggy
put bread in both sides of pie iron, butter side to pan, fill with whatever, clip closed and cook over hot coals, turning every min for 5-7 min-open and flip out onto plate
Bon appetit!!

This is hardly a cheap option but you can buy MREs at an army navy store. They are super quick and easy and they are very good. You can have these once as to provide one really hearty meal. Your kids will love preparing them too. You just add a little water to the pouch and a little pill to heat them up. All kinds available. They cost five to six bucks each though. Our soldiers eat them and most of them like them a lot.
