Mosquito Tent Hammock. Bushcraft, camping, homeless, shelter

Posted in Camping Tents  by admin on December 15th, 2008

Proof that this is a tough little hammock. Bought it on line about $140 it is worth that. It is an emergency shelter in the event of hurricane we can evacuate and I can have a good place to rest as long as I have two spaced trees.

Have you ever slept in a tent on the ground? Even with an air mattress, it sucks! Well this way you are off the ground you have a self induced breeze by way of rocking, lightweight, stores quickly, barely know you have a tent on your back, can be set up on trees, cars, poles, anywhere you can safely tie off to you could tie off over water if you want. Paddle out to a site with an inflatable tie off get your rest no body to bother you especially the police they love to hassle you if you are homeless. Paddling to a place like this gets you away from all the crazies too if you think about it.
I will get larger netting so I can save on the Deet hate to put that stuff on it makes you hot. Hope this is helpful ask any question you wish I will answer it.

There are many versions and brands of tent hammock google tent hammock and you will see plenty of them some people blog about them and give you their opinion of their time with their product I want to see Cabalas carry these or Bass Pro.

This is not a proper setup. It is for demonstration purpose only the trees on my property are not spaced enough if they were the swing would be better. The rain fly came with it should be taught again demonstration only not set up correctly it is a great looking package that blends in well with the surroundings. Low impact because you do not have to disturb the ground why bother no rocks roots plants to poke you in the back. You can sleep on your side roll over side to side whatever you need to get comfortable. The surgery I have had is called a 360 they cut you front and back install titanium rods and triangles tidy up with bone implants again it’s major surgery. My truck was flipped by a tornado I was injured hence the surgery and the need to sit occasionally I almost have to carry a chair with me at times. I have walked the 6 miles to the local supercenter to see If I could make it. Blisters on my feet I made it had to rest a few times but made it.

My climate is mild (more like a jungle) if you have to deal with snow get a Clark they appear to be top of the line and offer warmth with their under side bag that can be filled with cloths moss whatever. Clark acted shocked when I told them my weight I guess they feel the overweight handicapped don’t deserve the great out doors. How are we to loose the weight by crashing in the sleep number bed because if I can’t be comfortable I will not go?

This device opens the door for me to get active. I will loose this weight you can count on that. Was loosing weight at work will do a video on that later but truckers usually gain weight at work I am the opposite I loose weight at work.

PLEASE leave a comment or a rating good bad or ugly I leave comments please do the same Thank you.

    We had to evacuate …
We had to evacuate for Gustov and a hammock camme in handy. My wife and I slept in the bunk of the bigtruck head to toe and the kid slept in a hammock streatched across the interior of the truck from the upper sleeper to the driver side mirror. We were cramped but the kid slept perfectly she had the best place to sleep. Later on we strung up both hammocks under the trailer and it was comfortable but not completely from the elements we would need to establish a way to stay dry if it were raining.

after knee surgery I put on the weight I was up to 335 at one point I have lost what to some would be a lot of weight but I need to loose at least this much more. In a month I lost 25 lbs. I now have a job driving a flatbed truck and get a good daily workout withthis job. Should I stay 310 for long I will return to my 30 min Cardio walk. My goal is to get down to250 and look like a football running back again. Thanks for the reply get out and hike or bike its fun.

Thanks for the reply, I am back to work and loosing weight I hope to be back to 250 in a couple years. When I make it to that weight I will no longer need the heavy duty equipment. I am feeling better getting stronger and more active next I will exercize regularly that will really make a difference. Plan to try the Hennesy under 300 thanks a bunch.

    Hennessy Hammocks …
Hennessy Hammocks are great quality and they have a Safari model that handles my 350 lbs just fine. They also have insulation addons to make for extreme weather camping. Best hammock setup I have ever seen or used, might be something just as good out there too but I haven’t seen it.

    According to the …
According to the MDI website a dome can be restored quicker after a flood than traditional home since the water has no interior wall space . If you were in a flood plane you could build your dome to float. There are photographs of domes up on stilts go to the MDI website you can spend months reading all the information they have on domes. Once you do that you can build your own or have MDI build one AI builds kits you can get CA plans READ and you will know why I want one.Domes are near silent!

I haven’t tried a Clark hammock personally but they seeem to be better for cooler climates they have a website online. The best idea for sleep is a concrete dome home a tornado can come in the night and you will live b/c you are in a home that is an above groung stormshelter. Since more people are killed by lightening it is sound to consider that they are safe from that too since electricity finds the shortest path to ground. I will build one one day.

Thank you for commenting and viewing. I have never left the states we live 70769. We speak english and profanity depending on who is in our presence. The purpose of this demonstration is to show the capacity of the hammock with my weight of 330 that is something I check prior to sitting in any chair or buying anything that I intend to use. I am bored out my skull making videos helps maintain some sanity until I can return to work. Not everyone has seen these the bike rider in my video hasn’t

I own a cheapo “Ultralite Travel Hammock” and a “DD Hammock”. I use the ultralite around the house and on holidays. But its the DD I use for camping. and Why? Because there lightweight, comfortable and no need for flat ground.

    I filmed a Utube …
I filmed a Utube video today titled FLOODING,The trees to the right of the shed is where I had the tent hammock set up yesterday that spot is now under 4 inches of water. If that were a tent location for a traditional ground tent those campers would be miserable. A lot of their gear would be water damaged in the woods that could cost you your life. The hammock tent would be high and dry.

  19. cdltpx Says:

    It could help …
It could help prevent sprains too the best thing to do for distressed limbs is to elevate your ankles above your heart this aids in the recovery of the stress of an extended hike. Elevation is nearly impossible in a tent imagine the stuff you would have to carry to get 1/2 as comfortable as in a hammock. Every person should have one of these even if they fly flight cancelled need a quick shelter tie up to some poles sleep/rest well until flights resume. Can be used as a lounger too.

    The hammocks are …
The hammocks are great! Despite popular belief it doesnt hurt your back. The slight bend helps stretch out your mucles after a long hike and the gentle swaying puts you straight to sleep.
