Where do you like to go camping in Northern California?

Posted in ca camping  by admin on December 17th, 2008

Also, when is the best time of year to go to avoid the crowds? How do you find the best deals on campsites?

I like camping on Highway 1 at anyone of the numerous campgrounds available on the coast north of San Francisco. There are plenty and they're cheap. Early Fall is the best, least crowded time. My favorite is MacKerricher State Park on Highway 1 just north of Fort Bragg.

get a trailer and go to the outerbanks in north carolina during the summer time. it's awesome. it dont matter where exactly but i'd go near kitty hawk. the beaches around that place are pretty good if i remember correctly. also that's where wilbur and orville flew their planes.

Hike in back packing at Point Reyes National Seashore
Camping at Lava Beds Nat'l Monument, Mount Tamalpais State Park,
Pinnacles Nati'l Monument, Lassen Park, Yosemite.
You can always stay at a RV park, go in style and stay in the park.

The best time is probably in April or May – all campsites are pretty cheap. My favorite places are Yosemite and Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks, but those aren't really in Northern California. Lassen Park is also nice.
