whats a good camping spot in between San diego and San Francisco?

A fun and unique place to camp is Oceano Dunes. You actually drive your vehicle onto the beach. You can rent ATVs (or bring your own) and drive the sand dunes. Or you can pay to be a passenger of a hummer going over the dunes. Either way….it’s fun.
My family has done this many times. We usually camp at a nearby Pismo State Beach and then spend a day on dunes.

There are so many from Yosemite, to Pismo, to big sur. I use a camping book called California camping by Tom Stienstra. It lists every campground that is in California as well as the facilities, and how to get there. I call it my camping bible. best camping book ever.

Pismo is nice, so is Doheny–dohenystatebeach.org has dozens of photos and a map
El Capitan in Santa Barbara (LOVE Santa Barbara)
Big Sur is terrific
They’re each so different from one another. I’d check out their websites for photos and a list of the features (I don’t know if you’re tent camping or RVing). Then you can make your reservations from the website. The good places do fill up fast
Have a wonderful time!!

There are many wonderful and interesting places to camp in California, from San Clemente State Beach, Sunset State Beach to Limeklin State Park in Big Sur. I usually visit this informative website: http://www.fun-places-to-go-in-californi... to get most of my information on where to go in Southern California. Good Luck and have a great time camping in California!
