I was thinking of taking my kids there in a few weeks. I know the water level is down but is it still a good place to camp with kids?
Yes it is a good place for kids, but remember, it can get pretty hot there. That's OK as the kids just spend more time in the water. If yo have one of those portable shade things, I would bring that too.

I live in central Cali so most of them are a two hour drive away but I've never went camping so which is the best for tents and a fire in a nice quite spot…. I imagine rocks…. Any advice good / bad experience? Things I should/ shouldn't do, take….
Cambria is wonderful- especially if you are in Central California. I camped there and Cayucos July 4th weekend a couple years back, it was a great time. The cities up the I-5 are wonderful, the beach is perfect, lots to do- pretty moderate waves, so I'm not too sure about surfing- Have fun! Bring firewood, booze, bathing suits and good people!
I agree with the above person who said the Pismo is great, but a little crowded- but Cayucos is just half hour north of there, and much more quiet. BUT- if you ARE giong for the 4th, I would recommend spending the fireworks at Pismo, they always have a great band playing on the Pier and a great fireworks display . . .

I'm planning in taking the kids to the out doors, I'm looking for a place where to fish, camp and have a good time in South CA, By the beach, river or ?? please help
If you want to go the beach, try the State Parks that are located along the coast from Malibu to San Diego. There are lots of State Parks inland as well.

How strict is it there, if they say maximum people per site is 8 can we go over that if we pay more?
It is one of the top 100 campgrounds in California and is privately owned. They are usually pretty strict with the rules and don't allow noisy parties. Why not book two campsites together if you can. The biggest problem you may have is too many cars. They usually only allow two vehicles per campsite. You know, why not give them a call and see what they say to your question.

Their website isn't very user friendly and I wonder what its like? We will be camping NOT in a RV. Do they have a water pump at each site? Fire pits? Grass to sleep on or durt? That basic info and any tips or opions would be very helpful
Thank you!

We are looking for a good camping area near Santa Cruz in the redwood forest/grove. We want something as close to the beach as possible and would prefer to rent a cabin or cottage instead of using a tent.
Big Basin or Nisene Marks.
