A camping site (tenting) that would allow noise later than 10 pm… or a beach that allows tenting and overnight stay. I want to go camping with friends but most camp sites only allow noise until 10 pm =(
Campland On the Bay RV & Tent Camping Resort
(858-581-4200) 2211 Pacific Beach Dr.
San Diego, CA 92109
600 tent and recreation vehicle camping sites, beach, marina, boat launch, cafe, market, laundry, pools, Jacuzzi. Close to SeaWorld/Zoo.
Hope this helps, not too many in San Diego but i've stayed here, very nice. The beach also close before10pm.
I'm a student in SD and want to go camping this weekend with a few friends (campfire, beer, maybe some swimming if possible). We're not all extreme backpackers or anything, so we're looking to camp that's close to the parking lot (but still an outdoorsy experience). The weather is looking good… any cool places you know of? Hopefully not to crowded…
Chas gave you a link to the SD County parks, I go to Aqua Caliente a lot, less than two hours. I take the RV and Jeeps so camping is a stretch of the imagination, I have to have my A/C, heater and satellite tv.
But there's a hot spring spa there (only place with a spa), campfires, electricity and water on each site, plenty of hiking and you can come back to camp and take a hot shower and do the campfire and beer thing. Another good choice is right down the road at Vallecito.
If you do reserve a spot at Aqua Caliente grab site 139 or 140 (or both), they are the most isolated and eprfect for tent camping.
If you want more isolated look into the State campgrounds in the mountains and desert and in Anza-Borreo you can camp almost anywhere in the desert so you can really get out there. Just be prepared and stay safe.
My son will be going to boot camp and I need to plan to attend his graduation.
I would like to know if it is in Twentynine Palms, or San Diego
Thanks

anyone know is some great camping sites near san diego? I am willing to drive at most maybe 1-2 hours
I'm am not really a desert kinda of camper, so foresty type place maybe with some water near by?
thanks
You can camp right on the shore of Lake Cuyamaca, its about a 1.5 hour drive. There is a nice walking path along most of the lakeshore. They stock the lake with trout, bass, catfish, and strugeon. There are a lot of hiking trails in the nearby in the woods.
You always hear about how tough Marine boot camp is in Parris Island but you seldom ( if ever ) hear about Marine boot camp in San Diego. Does that mean that boot camp in San Diego is easier? If so, do Marine recruits west of the Mississippi have it easier than those east of the Misssissippi since recruits from west of the Mississippi go to San Diego boot camp while those east of the Mississippi go to Parris Island.
I spent 3 years at MCRD San Diego training stinking recruits. If anyone ever tells you PI is harder have them come climb around the hills of Pendleton with us for a while. This is an old myth with no real truth behind it. The DI's are the same, the training is the same… The only difference is women are trained at PI and only MEN are trained at San Diego. Hey, we also have the planes to deal with in SD, makes it much harder to communicate. Trust me, that is an old myth because MCRD San Diego has the beaches nearby and good weather, so they would call us "hollywood" Marines, but we all know it's just jealosy.
I'm planning a family camping trip and wanted to know if the weather is still ok in September.
The weather will be fine but camping at San Onofre is not really camping. The "campground" there is nothing more than a parking lot. I would try San Elijo just south of there with actual camping spots right near the beach.
