What do people think and talk about during hiking in group?
I'm currently writing a novel and a big chunk of the story is spent in a hiking-like activity . The characters, a group of 6 people need to get from one place to another.
But how do I fill in those places with chat and inner feelings and conflict? What sort of thing could arise within a group that is hiking?
Different personalities? Different ways to solve a problem?
when my girlfriend and i go hiking….we try to find a place that is nice and quiet, with a nice view..usually from there…we just spill out our thoughts…from what we did wrong in the past..to what we're going to do for our future (we would ask ourself..are we going to make it?)… for me, i had a troublesome past..grew up in a bad neighborhood..bad parents…no good friends…but now that i'm older…i try to sort out my thoughts….hiking is the best way to let it out..

They talk about the last time they've taken the hike and any unusual experiences. They talk about the drive to the location they are hiking. They talk about their lives or hiking equipment. Depending on the difficulty of the hike, they don't say much because they are trying to conserve their energy.
